Capitals forward Tom Wilson will be suspended for the first four games of the regular season after boarding Blues forward Sammy Blais in a preseason game Sunday in St. Louis.
The National Hockey League’s Department of Player Safety announced Tuesday that Wilson, who is considered a repeat offender, will also be fined $97,560.96 for this illegal body check.
Earlier this preseason, Wilson was suspended two games for interference on Blues forward Robert Thomas.
The Caps begin the 2017-18 season Thursday against the Senators. Wilson is eligible to return Oct. 13 against the Devils.
